Drop rates

  • I have asked around and not sure if any of you have noticed but these terrible Drop rates are killing me. Today so far 0/6 Mission, 1/8 Wicket, 1/8 Sith Fighter, 0 Jango, 1 Hounds Tooth/6. This is criminal if I was paying I'd want my money back. As soon as they announced Revan's return the drop rates went down from roughly 1/3 to 1/8. You can't prove anything but I think they did it on purpose to try to get more spending for people close to finishing off there Old Republic toons for Revan. If this was real world and a company was caught controlling supply to increase profits they would be investigated. the funny thing is they are doing the opposite for me. If I was closer I was going to spend $$ to finish off Mission as I am 67 shards away. But with the drop rate so bad buying her pack will not help me finish her in time so I am stuck grinding and only getting 1 a day for the next 2 months so when Revan returns in 3 months I will be ready.

You should be able to make it ftp but it'll be close. If you can manage 300 crystals a day for refreshes you have time to farm it. The drop rates even out in the long run. I go 0 for 8 sometimes but other times get 5 or 6 of 8.

But to be safe save a few crystals for shipments in case you're a few shards short.

Ppl see what they wanna see. I've had amazing drops this week, last week was garbage tho for me. It balances out. Just don't sim 8 battles at once like a nub.

I sim 8 at a time a lot and it doesn't really effect the drop rates. Over the long term, it is still about 1 in 3.

For mods I do it sometimes, but it seems like it only does the rng roll once per mass sim, so I try to stick with 1-2 at a time. Either way, like I said, it would balance out over time
  • I generally SIM 3 at a time then for the 7th and 8th battle I do the 2 but Cantina is always 3. Your amazing drop rates were for which shards I am interested?

I'm doing wicket first, then the leftover goes to fallen bast, cantina is ordo, ships is nest
  • I wish the drop rates had some predictability say 1 battle after getting a shard 25% change to get a shard. if no shard then 2nd battle 50%, if not shard 3rd battle 75% and finally 4th battle guaranteed shard. So the minimum chance to get a shard would be 25% but you are always guaranteed t in ever 4 at least. Now you might want to change this to go up by 20%so it is 5 battles but just to cut down on the frustration I see so many users get. Like for Mission in the last few days I went 0/12, 2/3, 1/9 and now 0/6. Will be doing 3 more battles in a few minutes.
  • An Update I m now 0/9 on Mission shards
  • So gannon none of your battles are going towards toons needed for Revan. That is where the biggest complaints are coming from.

So you think they didn’t reduce drop rates across the board, just on characters required for Jedi Revan? And yet your complaint included there being terrible drop rates on other characters as well?

You should pick one conspiracy theory to tout.
  • I'm doing Wicket now as well. You see the same thing with the Vets. People like to say the drop rate is the same. It's not. I have 3 accounts. I know when I go to farm KRU it'll be quick. Roughly 1 in 3 for both him and the ship. Then go farm the Vets for that awesome-feeling 1 in 8. Same happens with Kylo and Wicket. or Scav Rey and Sith Trooper.

They're assigned a % chance per roll to drop. Not the same % each time. Not the same % for each item. You don't have the same chance of getting a shard of Vet Han as you do a Omega when you do his node for instance. And you don't have the same chance of getting a Vet Han shard as you do a Kylo shard when you do their specific nodes.

That being said, it's not unfair unless you were the only one assigned a lower drop rate on a specific toon, which isn't the case.

  • It is Mission I am frustrated over the others just compounded my bad day. CD started posting the drop rates of packs if the toons are all different then they should start posting the drop rates fro each battle as well. That way people can see when buying shards for crystals what is a better investment.

No one has ever claimed all items have the same drop rate. But people who have actually tracked, over statistically significant sample sizes, have all come to the same ~33% drop rate for character shards, across ALL characters.

It's very possible that was true at one point. It isn't the case now however. I'm now farming my 3rd set of Vets, settled in for the long haul of 0-2 per 8 attempts....

I don't need to. I've seen if firsthand through three accounts. I really don't care if you choose not to believe it.
You're free to think and farm whatever you wish.

Go make a new account. Start your KRU farm at the same time as your Vets and do the same number each day. Or take someone's word that they "tracked it through thousands of attempts" Or blame Russia, I don't really care...

1/3 of 8 is only 2.6 so 0-2 would happen probably half the time or more. But everu so often you get 4 or 5 and that makes up for the below the average ones in the long run.

It's been true for me for the last year or so of farming that the drop rates are approximately 30-33%. I track in Excel for farm planning. There can be some variance sure, but on average I can predict to within a day or two of when I will complete a farm. So I'm among those fairly confident that those are the rates.
  • Well I am up to 0/12 for Mission today and will not do any more battles today will see if the streak continues tomorrow.

    Questions:
    1) Did you get her Marquee?
    2) When did you start farming her?
    3) How many cantina refreshes do you do a day during her farm?

I love how feeling are purported to be factual and definitive.

You are free as well to farm as you wish sir/madam, however, keeping a tally of sims versus drops will alleviate this feeling you are having about drop rates being suppressed on you.
  • @Azudelphi Yes I did her Marquee, I have been farming since Last Revan Event moving back between her and T4. Finished the Droid nor problem as well as the others it has just been Mission's drop rate that has been bad the whole time just worse this week. i have only done a few cantina refreshes as I do not get hundreds of crystals a day like some of you but I did save up and by the 25 shards for 2000 crystals in the weekly shipment since at least it gave me a sure thing.

Without refreshes the farm for mission is 75 days if you bought 25 shards. The one for t3 is 59 days. It's not surprising you're not there yet when you're not there by the calculated drop rates.

Personally i would rather believe a guy who states he doesn´t track droprates, but just knows the droprate for the vets is worse because he´s farmed them on 3 different accounts.
I mean, why should i believe you, who did track droprates for a extended period of time and is confident in saying they´re roughly the same across the board? Clearly you're a paid shill =D
Hopefully my sarcasme comes across. I must admit though, i was sceptical a long time ago when people said the droprate was roughly 30/33%, so i did start tracking my own droprates to prove them wrong. Unfortunately that didn't happen, hehe.

Shard drop rates since December 31st, 2018 when I started tracking them average at 34.1%.

There's no trick to doing them 1, 2, 3 or however many at a time.

Drops rates for BSF and COrdo are variable on a daily basis but the averages still come to about 33% give or take a few points.

  • I Never said it won't average out to 30% over the long haul. I was saying This week I am now 3/36 which is no where near 30%. I was claiming I felt like they lowered the drop rates on the toons needed for Revan to increase the chances of people given $$ to get them. They could easily bump the drop rate back up after Revan is over to Average it back up. Casinos do the same thing to there slot machines. payout rates are dropped on weekends when they have a lot of traffic then increased on Monday so payout rates still meet regulation guidelines. You can say all you want that I am not done because I have not put in enough days and I never said I should be done by now and like I mentioned I was prepared to pay for her pack to get shards but that is pretty much off the table unless I see another way to get the shards without spending a lot of $$$. Who knows maybe I will be proven wrong and tomorrow I will go 9/12 and bring my average for the week up to 25% I am just stating what I am seeing and how $$ hungry the game has gotten recently i don't feel like giving them the benefit of the doubt.

If we were to get double drop rates, particularly for mods gear, do you know how long it would take to get a single character up to XII?

    That's right: months.

I cannot comprehend why it should take SO long to level up even just one character, and there are scores of them.

Even at double the current drop rate it would take years to level up everything, in fact you would never level up everything given new character and ship releases.

So why are drop rates so mind numbingly slow?

It takes serious, daily commitment to level just one: meaning a lifetime to level them all. Is this realistic? Fair?

One thing for sure, it takes SO long that I am on auto pilot now, the joy has long gone. I just finally unlocked JRT, and so? I literally do not care as she is old news now.

Revan? I am so far from unlocking him it is irrelevant.

The grind should never demotivate so greatly, but here, it really does.

Wake up Devs, this is work, not entertainment.

    Kyno: Edited for clarity.

isnt it clear? its p2w buddy :) i am not going to get to 5 mil gp in next 3 years, and some folks do it in months... just sad reality... strategy and tactics are no more in this game... just pay for revan, boom you are in top 10... falcon, same sh... i am hugelly disappointed in managment of this game..

admitedly i don't know alot about casino's, nor about the guidelines for them in the country you live.
However, if the slot machines require a specific minimum payout rate by law, i'm willing to doubt it's legal to average said raid by having a lower rate during the weekend and a higher rate on monday. Honestly, i don't even know how that would work in theory. Wouldn't you need just as many "plays" on monday to bring the average back up to the required minimum, thus making exactly the same amount of money at the end of the week, but shafting weekend players and rewarding monday players in the process?
