I’ve been a fan my whole life. Sometimes I think that I’m the only person who likes Star Wars. I understand that not all the movies are of equal quality , but when you think about how internet fandom exists , it really seems like episode 5 is the only one that is accepted as good. So that’s what has me wondering why Star Wars is popular.
General internet fan quotes :
Episode 4 is great, but the dialogue is bad. Vader’s first name isn’t darth , why is his lightsaber white
Episode 6
What’s with ewoks , the dialogue is lame. Why did the sister thing pop up
Episode 1-3
Why cgi , why let the guy who created it and funded it and helmed it , have his choice
Why so many fights. Why so athletic
Why jarjar
Why anakin quote
Lame joke about sand
Episode 7
Rip off of episode 4. Another one I didn’t like
Rey has no skills
Rogue one
Why did directors change
Why is a girl the lead
Why did we need this
Episode 8
Too many girls
Why isn’t it like George Lucas made it. But I hate when he has free rein
That’s not MY luke ( it’s not yours)
Rey still has no skills. Why does she beat luke
Solo
He’s not Harrison Ford of 40 years ago
It didn’t sell as many tickets
Sexual robot
Episode 5
Lucas had nothing to do with it
Bounty hunters look cool scene
It’s the best Star Wars
Plot twist
Many of these references are from this very forum. I’m just curious why everyone hates all the movies accept 5 , yet we have so many fans , so much love. What’s the deal. We all like it. So just say it. And if you say you like the old extended universe , don’t bother

Consider the venom movie as an example. People liked the character (most people)
But they hated the movie storyline. It was either awfully done or just not what people wanted. So truth fully, i cannot recommend or point you to any good movies that I know that would meet your expectations.
But the biggest problem with the SW film franchise is the plot holes. Seemed as though George could not be troubled to make sure the story was coherent. And that's mainly where Ep. 1-3 failed. Ep. 8 too, violently so.
I think you need the right mix of action and character growth to make a good film. It's hard to fit any decent character development into a fantasy action story when the characters are always on the move. There is too much focus on impressive effects, not enough in the slow moments. This is where Ep. 5 excelled; we got to know the players much better, and it's why we love them.
The original Terminator film had the right mix of action and growth too.
But again, that's the kind of stuff that makes a good film to me. What do you like in a film?
I see you are just here to start a fight. I don't feel like it, so you just have fun playing with yourself.
What plot holes (I'm by trying start an argument here I genuinely can only think of one)?
This is a list of "most" of the movies that no matter what I'm doing or watching if I see it on I will stop and immediately put them on because I feel they are amazing movies. A lot of them are a lot deeper than they are given credit for.
The thing that stands out with this list is I don't think there is anything post 2000 on that list....does not say a lot about current movies.... Action is amazing...Graphics amazing...storys meh I'm sure I could add a few post 2000 movies to the list but none come off the top of my head
Big Trouble in Little China
The Last Starfighter
The Big Lebowski
Night of the Comet
Godfather 1&2
Last Action Hero (so underrated)
Jake Speed
Remo Williams
Goodfellas
Major League
Casino
Hondo
The man who shot Liberty Valance
Yea exactly. People use plot hole too freely as a criticism. A plot hole is incoherence within the plot. Saying “ why didn’t they think of that before “ is not a plot hole.
Pretty good, but you forgot top gun and rocky
Who is Captain Morgan?
That depends on the person you are when you've been in his company for a bit.
It also functions as a purgative and a cathartic! Only good thing to come from that cinematic abomination was Boba Fett.
I can't watch it because I find it boring.

Movies that would have made massive impressions on you in your "formative" years don't now because the bar to make that kind of impression has risen too high to be obtainable.
This. The Prequels will always be my jam because of the age I saw them at. I saw 4, 5, and 6 around age 5 and thought it was soooo cool and immediately fell in love. But then the Prequels came out and showed me what Star Wars really could be and as a 10 year old (I think) I was completely swept away. The lightsaber battles, Darth freakin Maul, pod racing, those awesome Naboo Starfighters, Natalie Portman, all of it was like 😱 this is sooo much better than the other stuff! Obviously I’ve come down a bit, but I will always treat the Prequels as the Star Wars that grabbed a hold and has yet to let go.
