At least I have a use for all of my FO now. Main squad and back up squad led by Hux for cleanup. That's really the only takeaway I can be happy about from this event. The requirements are ridiculous for both characters and then you dont even use more than half of them when you can use the same squad for each tier. No story, no cutscenes, no gimmicks aside from rock, paper, scissors for the 60 ticket tier? Lame, very very lame.
I'm not sure why anyone is bringing raids into this conversation. Raids you can use any combo of characters you want. Just because one or some are more useful than others doesn't have any relevance. It's not gated so you can still play, but maybe not pump out as much damage until you get better teams.
Also no one is arguing that these characters should be useful after outside of the event. We've all made peace with, or should have by now, the fact that many events have requirements to get into the event that may not be useful after the event. This may date back to Phoenix or earlier. Can't quite recall.
This is about the fact that they make a toon a requirement and it has no play at all in the event. We haven't seen that level of laziness before and it is lazy plain and simple. Might as well have made it 13 random characters, scrub the DB and do some analytics and made it 13 of the least geared/leveled characters to get in and then let you use whoever you want for the actual event. It's on par with that more than anything else anyone has cited.

Have you seen the footage using Rose? She’s a wet noodle and her only useful tactic, stuns, don’t land due to high tenacity. Phasma doesn’t have any use either as she can’t provide and damage and she won’t do better than KRU, SiTrooper, Hux, FOX, FOST. FOO wont work either. Just like on Rey’s side you can’t replace RH Poe or RH Finn, BB8 or 3PO and R2. Sooooo remind me again how they simply weren’t paywalls?

I posted just Kylo’s reqs. For the event, any tier throughout the premium characters to use here are Hux, Sith Trooper and KRU. Depending on what tier you’re playing then, you can use FOST or FOX. So that’s 5 characters used in the event. The other 7 (not including Finalizer because it’s only 5* and not a gear sink) have no value in this event. You can’t use palpatine and the mechanics render the rest useless. Ergo, requiring various relic levels for them was tedious, pointless, and a massive waste of valuable gear for just this event. The same stands true for Rey. Now out of those 14 useless for this event toons, maybe a couple are still useful beyond it. Palpatine, Finn, Resistance Trooper, BB8, and maaaaaybe OG Kylo. Otherwise? Nothing but gear sinks, so yes. Pointless requirements given that you can’t even use them in the event.
It’s not a matter of figuring out how, it’s a matter if they will get demolished without reworks and can’t hold up in these events. Ergo, useless. Ergo, only paywalls. Nothing more.
As for the vets? Wooo added resistance tags and some synergy. However in most lineups, they still won’t be the first choices. Could make for some fun GAC matchups. Still not worth the gear sinks to relic them.
Pain. Loss. Suffering. These are the lessons putting relics on Rose and the Vets were meant to teach us. And now our training is nearly complete. All that is left is to betray our CG masters, best them in combat, and claim our rightful title as Sith Lords!!!

So........why do we need toons for the Galactic Legends event when there is no use for them in the event. I mean R5 Rose Tico and then she actually isn't needed for the event. I'm worried that the people who whale on this game may be turned off by the cost for toons they dont even need. I love this game, and want it to flourish, but we need something to work towards and I for one will never be farming for Rey or Supreme Leader Kylo as the ends do not justify the means. Will you be farming for them??

But like I always say I’ll be fair to the devs when they deserve it and the background were true to the movie. The most obvious was the duel between Kylo and Rey in T3 when it switched between Kijimi and the Star Destroyer. That was cool, but the rock paper scissors aspect ruined that feeling. But that’s pretty much it honestly.
Imagine thinking that people who spent thousands in preparation for this event, voicing their displeasure is properly seen as overreacting. Perhaps CG shouldn’t have hyped up this event as much as they did claiming amazing immersive content, artwork and great rewards only to deliver lazy mechanics, paper scissors rock, shoddy artwork outside of the background of Kajimi and the Death Star, and no rewards at all outside of a title and portrait.

They will have to clean up this mess, and the only way to do that is to break the limit of level 85, I don't particularly see any other way. and bringing a lot of content together, because you update and still manage to break the Raid Sith code was shameful.
By increasing the general level of the characters and mods they can make the requirements appear smaller, and if they increase the base of the daily prize pool they can dilute this mess, without saying that in fact they have reduced the requirements.

While I wish that was the case, I don’t see it. They said this months ago. We got a higher influx of kyro’s from finishing dailies and the assault tiers. The assault tiers also yield extra G12 finisher salvage. Great.
They changed the refresh time for fleet battles and added G12 gear in there. Great, however the drop rate is terrible and is roughly 20%. So double edge sword in my mind.
Carbantis, cuffs, golden eyeball components and salvage have multiple stores to grab them in but the currency is limited so it’s not unlimited. Still the carbantis are the best to farm because of the challenge tiers too. Could use some extra drops from challenges regarding stun cuffs and components.
The biggest gear crunch they’ve done nothing to fix? Stun guns. It is the absolute worst bottleneck in the game. One store has it and it costs GET1 which NEEDS to be hoarded for any future epic confrontations since the devs refused to acknowledge the disdain for GET1 farms and said more will come in the future. Until they release this bottleneck, getting relic will be a massive achievement. So many characters need stun guns. Heck, the new GL’s require 400 salvage a piece! That’s insane.
I still have no issue that a character is worthless after the event. So be it. If people haven't come to grips with that already then I don't know what to say. It has always been the case so who cares and why complain now?

I mean the ships star requirement, while it could have been 7 I guess and 5 isn't too bad is kind of silly to not have a ship phase. Palp not being playable at all? Come on. In other events while you were forced to level/gear/mod characters to get the to a certain GP you were also always forced to use them. Every one of them. Some events of course said get 5 of a faction ready (like ships) and so long as you did that then you cold enter and play and use them. None said you have to get all 10 ships leveled, but you can only use 7 of them.
It's lazy design. That's it. They could have made every single one of the required characters required for the event and scaled that phase accordingly. So Rose is a ****. Big deal They could have made a section of the event that requires her, but scaled it to the toon they forced you to use. They've always done that and while it may seem difficult at first and people complain they always find a way through modding, attack order, over gearing past the requirement (maybe r7 instead of r5) etc to get through it.
At least if CG forced you to level and gear a toon they had the common decency to take some time and incorporate it into the event. I suppose for the event they were most excited about they couldn't be bothered to put any effort or thought into it. Don't get me wrong. They did some interesting things with the GL toons themselves and the art work and all. But the event I guess wasn't that important to them. They could have just as well unlocked the GL characters once you met the requirements and a ticket count and skipped the event.Would have been about the same.
I am going for Rey first and then Kylo. But I am so far behind that I am still farming for General skywalker while star farming the last 4 res. Finn, Poe, Rose and Holdo.
Rey seems to be the best of the two and can do some dmg. But I am not spending a cent to get them and will likely be waiting 1-2 years to just get a shot at getting the currency to unlock rey. I will go 7 relic on all of them to give me a better shot at winning first try, every time.

Maybe you should try reading. Never claimed there was or wasnt a paywall. Just stating that you are complaining cause you want to unlock the legends with as little effort as possible.
It however is hardly a good criticism to say that phasma and the others you mention aren't better than other characters also needed
I posted just Kylo’s reqs. For the event, any tier throughout the premium characters to use here are Hux, Sith Trooper and KRU. Depending on what tier you’re playing then, you can use FOST or FOX. So that’s 5 characters used in the event. The other 7 (not including Finalizer because it’s only 5* and not a gear sink) have no value in this event. You can’t use palpatine and the mechanics render the rest useless. Ergo, requiring various relic levels for them was tedious, pointless, and a massive waste of valuable gear for just this event. The same stands true for Rey. Now out of those 14 useless for this event toons, maybe a couple are still useful beyond it. Palpatine, Finn, Resistance Trooper, BB8, and maaaaaybe OG Kylo. Otherwise? Nothing but gear sinks, so yes. Pointless requirements given that you can’t even use them in the event.
It’s not a matter of figuring out how, it’s a matter if they will get demolished without reworks and can’t hold up in these events. Ergo, useless. Ergo, only paywalls. Nothing more.
As for the vets? Wooo added resistance tags and some synergy. However in most lineups, they still won’t be the first choices. Could make for some fun GAC matchups. Still not worth the gear sinks to relic them.
They really have taken the immersive Star Wars experience to new levels with this event. The devs actually becoming evil, and torturing us into dark, twisted versions of our former selves?!? Brilliant.

But like I always say I’ll be fair to the devs when they deserve it and the background were true to the movie. The most obvious was the duel between Kylo and Rey in T3 when it switched between Kijimi and the Star Destroyer. That was cool, but the rock paper scissors aspect ruined that feeling. But that’s pretty much it honestly.
Imagine thinking that people who spent thousands in preparation for this event, voicing their displeasure is properly seen as overreacting. Perhaps CG shouldn’t have hyped up this event as much as they did claiming amazing immersive content, artwork and great rewards only to deliver lazy mechanics, paper scissors rock, shoddy artwork outside of the background of Kajimi and the Death Star, and no rewards at all outside of a title and portrait.
Nobody should ever been worried about whales, lol. Anyone who whaled on all this stuff is beyond the capacity to be turned off by anything in this game, ha.
Rebalancing Kylo to be closer to Rey’s power, this should come until next week, a guess.
They will have to clean up this mess, and the only way to do that is to break the limit of level 85, I don't particularly see any other way. and bringing a lot of content together, because you update and still manage to break the Raid Sith code was shameful.
By increasing the general level of the characters and mods they can make the requirements appear smaller, and if they increase the base of the daily prize pool they can dilute this mess, without saying that in fact they have reduced the requirements.
Not sure if you'll see any change before anyone fully (read ulti) unlocks either of these characters.

While I wish that was the case, I don’t see it. They said this months ago. We got a higher influx of kyro’s from finishing dailies and the assault tiers. The assault tiers also yield extra G12 finisher salvage. Great.
They changed the refresh time for fleet battles and added G12 gear in there. Great, however the drop rate is terrible and is roughly 20%. So double edge sword in my mind.
Carbantis, cuffs, golden eyeball components and salvage have multiple stores to grab them in but the currency is limited so it’s not unlimited. Still the carbantis are the best to farm because of the challenge tiers too. Could use some extra drops from challenges regarding stun cuffs and components.
The biggest gear crunch they’ve done nothing to fix? Stun guns. It is the absolute worst bottleneck in the game. One store has it and it costs GET1 which NEEDS to be hoarded for any future epic confrontations since the devs refused to acknowledge the disdain for GET1 farms and said more will come in the future. Until they release this bottleneck, getting relic will be a massive achievement. So many characters need stun guns. Heck, the new GL’s require 400 salvage a piece! That’s insane.
However during the actual event a character should have some use, and certainly should be playable. I mean the ships star requirement, while it could have been 7 I guess and 5 isn't too bad is kind of silly to not have a ship phase. Palp not being playable at all? Come on. In other events while you were forced to level/gear/mod characters to get the to a certain GP you were also always forced to use them. Every one of them. Some events of course said get 5 of a faction ready (like ships) and so long as you did that then you cold enter and play and use them. None said you have to get all 10 ships leveled, but you can only use 7 of them.
It's lazy design. That's it. They could have made every single one of the required characters required for the event and scaled that phase accordingly. So Rose is a ****. Big deal They could have made a section of the event that requires her, but scaled it to the toon they forced you to use. They've always done that and while it may seem difficult at first and people complain they always find a way through modding, attack order, over gearing past the requirement (maybe r7 instead of r5) etc to get through it.
At least if CG forced you to level and gear a toon they had the common decency to take some time and incorporate it into the event. I suppose for the event they were most excited about they couldn't be bothered to put any effort or thought into it. Don't get me wrong. They did some interesting things with the GL toons themselves and the art work and all. But the event I guess wasn't that important to them. They could have just as well unlocked the GL characters once you met the requirements and a ticket count and skipped the event.Would have been about the same.
Rey seems to be the best of the two and can do some dmg. But I am not spending a cent to get them and will likely be waiting 1-2 years to just get a shot at getting the currency to unlock rey. I will go 7 relic on all of them to give me a better shot at winning first try, every time.
