I like this game. But there could be easy UX improvments with some additional scripting.
I swear my teams AI is not just bad, if theres any basic logic involved, it does the opposite.
I first noticed back when sid was on everyones team. If i auto'd a sid team with my jedi team, they all atracked sid first. Every time!
I code and im telling you Some characters AI is just plain lazy logic coding. Im not talking about complex situational AI like what yoda would need. I mean simple "if statement" "Funtions" for basic conditional logic.
Example:
If Lea is the last one left alive in a pvp battle, her going stealth is not logical and just plain ****.
If everyone is full health, Lumi healing is not logical and just plain **** ect..
The code is just set to spam skills no matter the senerio.
So an example of a very basic addition to the code for Lea would be:

else(ignore skill/2 stealth = false);}

Or another example is how if i auto a dooku or old ben team, my squad all attack dooku or ben first, basiclly the oposite of a logical choice. This is only slightly harder AI logic to program. Just script it to where the AI focus attacks in order from highest dps down, with "if enemy has counter attack active, skip to last" writtin in.
Arena is the only fun part of this game but AI on defense is bad development imo.
Other games like summoners war have arena pvp with many conitional skills and the AI logic is much better.
Reply with your opinions of other characters AI that would also be easy to modify. Maybe the devs will outsource to some other devs experienced in scripting conditional logic and make the game even better.

The best crazy AI example is Ventress - she still use her buff remove & heal when her team-mates have suffered damage (but she hasn't) even though they made it a self-heal only in an update a few weeks back....
Some days when you can only afford a few minutes you throw an auto.
Phase 1 it makes them avoid the guards and goes for boss man.......
Phase 2 and 3 always avoids the door and all on rancor.... silly just silly....
Phase 4 meh still......
Never alone wasting things like lumi heal over Barris heal when a ally has heal immune on them.

But one thing I have noticed is that the enemies target healers now.
Only small tweaks, if any, are needed. The specials spam is not a good AI implementation. It could have a little more brains, but again, you really need to tread carefully as to not **** off your player base enough to quit.
A much better approach might be to make AI tiers run in line with the the arena tiers. Up to tier 10 it's a basic AI like we have now. Starting at 9 it could be made a little more difficult. Finally at tier 1 it's almost "human-like" to give the number 1 a fair shot at holding it.
Your idea of teired levels of AI intelligence is great!
True AI and Machine Learning are likely never to make it into any game. It's resource intensive, very slow (for now) and requires millions of iterations to become flawless. To put it in perspective, it has taken a company like Google, arguably the best engineers in the world, to make one even capable of beating the top human chess masters.
