How would you make a Thrawn movie/trilogy?

Seeing Solo is out and people had mixed feelings, how would you do a Thrawn movie/trilogy.

I’m guessing with the original trilogy cast getting old or are dead (R.I.P Carrie Fisher) that the Thrawn book trilogy would be a bit out of question unless there is some recasting.

Thrawn as a character is canon, see Rebels.

I really like last year's "Thrawn" novel, good place to start for a film series.

Rebels introducing Thrawn kinda messed up with whole Thrawn being unknown threat plot of his trilogy. Any movies related to him would have to discard it and be based on new content.

Not really. The semi-anthology nature of the Thrawn novel wouldn't adapt well to a film. That would warrant a more singular, unified narrative.
    Still not a he.

Would you maybe do a trilogy set of the novel focusing on his climb, cutting out the pryce parts as there isn't much influence to the story than when she goes to Batonn to save her parents which could just be brought in at the third movie with very little description.

    Example
Him joining the empire/meeting nightswan. (1)
Chasing Nightswans trail to Paklarn, dealing with the colony and the Wookie attack on a slave camp. (2)
The battle of Batonn that got him promoted to grand admiral. (3)

Now you're describing less of a movie, and more a couple episodes of a TV series.

You're probably right, did just take a stab of using all the Thrawn parts in the novel in a somewhat trilogy format.

Although you now got me intrigued about what a Thrawn tv series might look like and how seeing the Empire as "the good guys"

A thrawn trilogy would be the true episodes 7,8,9. Id follow the books of course.

The next best option is a TV show. And id start it just after episode 6 like the books were. The history of thrawn can all be done in flashbacks.

I would add him as a major supporting character in a Vader stand alone film. If they do him right and the film does well then consider his own movie.

Didnt know if Vader and thrawn worked together often, might be interesting with the new book coming out. Wouldn’t mind that enjoyed watching him more than Phoenix squad in rebels

It's difficult to say what would work. Back in the day I worked as a computer specialist in a store. When Xwing and Tie Fighter came out, we couldn't give Tie Fighter away.

Don’t think so vader was around a bit in season 2 but don’t remember seeing him after that. Also from the youtube videos I’ve watched, yeah I know probably not the best sources, Vader and thrawn didn’t really like each other sought of ironic seeing that thrawn admired anakin

I'd put him in episode 9...

    If that's possible

But hasn't the empire been completely destroyed by that point? Would be interesting but don't know how especially since General Hux has been established as the main military leader.

I can't say that he needs a movie, let alone a trilogy since he was "introduced" in Rebels, timeline speaking.

Yeah, if Thrawn's even still alive at that point in the timeline, I'd have to think he's back in the Ascendancy.

That said, that does leave room for Thrawn in a followup trilogy.

There is definitely something occupying the same narrative space that the Yuuzhan Vong held, as the grave threat from beyond that the Chiss Ascendancy are waging a war with and tried to prepare and leverage the Empire against.

So if that's the direction the saga's going, there's definitely room to meet Old Man Thrawn in the Ascendancy.

I would hire Timothy Zahn to write the script and reap the profits of restoring the Star Wars movie franchise.

We're in the middle of the biggest golden age of Star Wars content since the movies initially released. There's nothing to restore.

Or I actually like what's being put out, and remember when there was virtually no Star Wars content being put out besides the odd video game and some mostly terrible novels.

Now? The movies are the best we've gotten since the OT, the novels are genuinely good books, the comics are good, we just had a great TV series wrap up, with Resistance looking promising, Fantasy Flight has the RPG license and is supporting quite possibly my favorite system at the moment, the games... well, I like Galaxy of Heroes.

There is more quality Star Wars content coming out right now than we've had in decades.

"Best" is not "only." Yes, there were seven movies between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. I consider none of those seven to be as good as Return of the Jedi or The Force Awakens.

Would love to see Timothy Zahn write the story for a Thrawn movie, didn't think the last couple of movies have been that bad, bit disappointed there wasn't more to Snoke story.

I would love to see Old Man Thrawn, but based on what I just looked up the average lifespan of a Chiss is 80 years so might be a bit of a stretch.

Eh, if he was 40 in Rebels, that would put him in his seventies at TFA/TLJ, and "older than average" works for important characters.
