Area of effect (originally) that was a spell /attack that hits a wide area, but for something like this, it's basically attack on everyone as John matrix says.
In older RPGs, each attack had an Area of Effect value. A value of [1] meant the attack targeted 1 'unit of space' (generaly tiles from the battle area).
A value of [2] meant it targeted an area with a radius of 2 units of space (so basically a + shape, centered on the target would be affected).
Over time, the expression 'AoE attack' was adapted to define attacks that have an AoE greater than one, meaning it affects an area.
In this game, some attacks affect one target, others affect all targets. Therefore, AoE refers to attacks on all enemies.
Well aint this a ****, I ask that question a month or so ago and got the UTFSE response and thread closed. I must not be a friendly person, lol. Oh well....;)
Area of Effect, although I don't understand why. Nobody says USoA. Nobody says BSoA. Nobody says UoSSR. Why in the hell do people say AoE? I never heard AE referred to as AoE until I played WoW. In AC, EQ, and DAC it was just AE. Nowadays everyone insists on adding the 'o' for some odd reason.
