This dude has four times as many subscribers as Ahnald, hates mobile games and did a 15 minute video about this.
I think it’s fair to say this is a bigger story than anything I’ve seen with this game.
He hates mobile games, but we should value his opinion on a mobile game? K.
Wasn’t saying you had to listen to or value his opinion. just saying that this is in fact expanding beyond the normal people who talk about swgoh. You can think he’s full of it, I was just pointing out others are talking about the story.
Ahnald has a friend... and the friend sees a way to get a lot of views and maybe new viewers. Does everyone really think these guys do this for us? They are in business just like CG. Neither cares for any of us outside of making a buck. I'm in no way against ppl making money, but come on, don't be so foolish as to think anyone actually cares about you.
I truly, 100% believe Ahnald enjoys playing this game and this community and also enjoys making money doing what he enjoys.
I truly, 100% believe that is not the case for a lot of employees at CG.
Based on what? Ahnald is able to portray an image and connect with his audience. You know absolutely nothing about the average CG employee except what you choose to imagine of them. It's all about perception, unless you take a minute to step back and look at reality.
Thats just lazy arguing. You don't know them either and your perception of them could be wrong. Arguing one way or the other for someone else is all based on ones own perception. So by arguing the the other person is wrong because they don't know CG is actually arguing against yourself as well. There, i have solved it, you are both wrong!
All because CG doesn't actually have the stomach to come here and say "deal with it"
Wow that is great to see. Hopefully this gets EAs attention.
I’m sure EA will be seething when they investigate and learn that CG followed their terms of service
No company likes bad press.
All press is good press
I can disagree with you there. I work for a global company and we had a huge bribing scandal in the 2000s in Europe and they lost a huge amount of their client base along with a plummet in the stock market. It has taken them many years, millions in legal fees, and multiple CEOs to come back from that.
Just to clarify, because it was my whole point - he said that "two weeks ago I run into a bug". But the thing is, that it wasn't "a bug". It was consequence of restrictions.
And the whole drama is based on a false assumption that he was banned ONLY because of account sharing...
Are all chinese accounts now banned... or can they just not make purchases?
Because if they arent banned.... this seems like they targeted him.
Now thats said. If it was a chinese account the easier solution would be let him keep it and tell him hes up a creek without a paddle.
He could then make videos with counters to new teams but couldnt whale on them. Which would mean hed leave it eventually.
Again the stance on whale cheaters is the real issue. Add to that lack of communication.... and the community has just had it
The issues are so basic, so fundamentally clear: CG do not appropriately address the consumers; the cost of in-game items (that we do not own) are criminally overpriced; the people like Ahnald who generate, or facilitate funding for CG, get treated with contempt by CG.

"This is the second time this article has been posted. It is NOT a mainstream website. It's a small site dedicated to 4 or 5 similar games. It's not the 6o'clock news"
Total attempt at misdirection. No one claimed this story was on the 6o'clock news, nor FOX/CNN. All that was said, is that it's gaining attention outside the community from people who don't even play SWGOH. That's a proven fact.
but but but it's not the 6o'clock news...
I'd bet good money less than half of even SWGOH players realize all the whining going on currently....

Cool, but that isn't the argument
Nope. Just reality. The vast majority of SWGOH could not only care less about random youtubers, but are not actively perusing forums, Reddit, facebook, or anything else. They are just out there doing their daily's totally oblivious to the "revolution" lol.

QFE
In the real world on the 6 o'clock news there is a movement happening. People are calling for certain organizations to be defunded. Do you think those organizations are sitting around saying "hey, they want to take our money and funding but this is still good press for us!"?

There's also most likely a reality that the biggest (and most) spenders are actively pursuing any forums and care about the situation of CG's ethics. So the vast majority may not be CG's most valued group of players.
If you take two companies with equal resources, customers and comparable products and put them side by side, and compare customer service and PR, the one with good customer service and PR will make MORE money. I keep seeing this ongoing argument that since the game is making money they don't care. Well, clearly that may be the case for CG. But if all they care about is money, they can make a lot MORE money by doing right by the community.
There are too many case studies of companies losing tons of business once the betrayal of their customer base occurs (and more importantly, comes to light in front of a large amount of people), to pretend that "all press is good press".

I agree with you until you consider the marketing plan of this game.
It is all about random chance purchases. About purchasing a piece needed for the next piece. From the constant conversion of currency away from actual dollar value, to the lights and sounds to reward "win" these are all casino tactics. They do not have a player base. They have addicts.
It is to their advantage to keep community blindfolded, unaware of the tactics, and falsely optimistic toward being about to "win".
The youtubers fight against the method CG profits off the game. The only reason to do right by the community would be to avoid the end of participation... and it is likely that that inevitability has been planned for.
I payed $10 to get Chewe once... will never spend a single dollar again.
This Ahnalt situation is abuse of power and targeting people. Even when TOS is clear, rules are meant to be bend some times. If not, then ban all shared accounts and cheaters.

A fallacy of the utmost. Bad press is still bad press. Especially perhaps now in this day and age of cancel culture.

Yup. I mean google gets it right

I speculate of course, but so do you.
However you are probably correct.

Is there anybody there???
How sad...
They must be trying to campaign for Joe instead of giving the community an answer.
