Attaining (Trying to) Kylo Ren is a JOKE!!!

Kylo was easy as it gets for me. Not only because he's in Cantina, but because his shards fell like rain. You want to discuss a joke when it comes to shard drop rate, that would be Rey. After the free 10, I'm sitting at 30, and been farming her since day one of release.

I've got Rey at 37/80 and I started farming her a week after release.

Oh almighty RNG God! Praise be unto thee! My offerings of crystals, energy and credits are meager, but my faith is true!
My name is cosmicturtle333, aka CT-333, aka Threes.

Even playing for free, leveling your characters is infinitely easier than leveling your base in all those MM empire building games. I think it's actually too easy. GW characters don't even take a month to get to 7 stars.

I started farming Kylo Ren 3 days ago and I'm more than halfway there, and spent 0 on this game. You can see my exact procedure here: https://forums.galaxy-of-heroes.starwars.ea.com/discussion/comment/48509#Comment_48509

I only have about 20 ren shards but his drop rates been 30-40 percent.

Rey on the other.... was an absolute nightmare. If it wasnt for the 10 shards for the holiday event and 14 shards from a random chromium pack i decided to get. Id still be trying to unlock her
  • Options
I'm a noob in this game but I have to admit: Paying about $40 - 120 AUD for packs that unlock hard-to-get characters is excessive. I hope EA changes this,
I feel that the not getting shards where you're supposed to get shards is a valid complaint but it's all randomised like a lot of the other parts of the game.
If you just play through the game, you'll get what you want eventually,

    your level is 51 right?
Cantina 4-c ,which Kylo Ren is available, require "level 53" to unlock.

Isn't that strange or i missed something.

Lighten up - it's hard, but not impossible... Took me about 10 days f2p - and worth it.

Op you have no idea what you are talking about. sigh you play it the wrong way lol. I'm F2P and my Kylo Ren is 5Stars and 15/85.

I have been farming him few days after he released because i was low level at that time. i used atleast 90% of my cantina energy to farm him. I refilled 1 time cantina.

Is Kylo worth 7*ing? I just unlocked him, but may do Luke instead if he sucks. Does he require Poggle to be decent?

I just unlocked Kylo yesterday and it so happens i have a 5* Luke.

Both are pretty versatile characters, the biggest being that Kylo has 3 attacks (regular+healblock, AOE+counter 1 round and his nuke) plus the chance to reset his cooldowns on damage.

Luke has his regular attack (every turn has a chance of crit up for 2 turns), second ability stun+defense down and his leadership ability which increases the chance to resist debuffs.

Kylo has a far larger health pool, slightly higher damage, similar speed, lower crit chance and no leadership ability.

At first glance it would seem Kylo is all around better for my team than Luke, as i have Phasma as my leader and another tanky character will be very useful.

If you want to cross reference their max stats, go here =)

Whine, whine, whine. Leveling toons is garbage so basically what, you want fully levelled toons? Skipped over everything after reading that super whiny statement.

Lol, and you want EA to listen to you
  • Options
Well that's really a long JOKE.
    Keep farming and stop complaining.
P2W can reach invincible in a short time, but F2P can catch them later eventually.

Mobile games are completely different from console games. Almost everyone has a smart phone or tablet. Not everyone has a console. This means this game reaches a larger market and people without the time or willingness to buy a console. People are a lot more likely to spend on a game they can play anywhere.

People spend insane amounts of money on mobile games. This is not just an EA thing. If people continue spending on this game, it wouldn't surprise me to see new content on a consistent basis. That's the only thing really separating it from other top mobile games. Granted it is a new game so there are a few bugs and new content will probably take a while.

Let's face it, this is just a twinkly casino slot machine , nothing more.
EA will happily take your money and offer very little in return.
EA will load the dice in their favour during fights.
How often does your well equiped party get wiped by a bunch of stacked enemy that are the same level as you but can critical hit for 3x the amount your best toon can?
Example, light side level 5 normal, level 45-46 mobs crit hit for 3-4K , or the double attack sand people that seem to recover their timers almost instantly ..... It's total bull.
On top of that, your toons require monstrous grinds for equipment, some require 20 mats.
EA are pushing you to spend money and those that are competitive will spend.
Look at me, what a fool I was, I purchased 3 lots of 8 chromium packs thinking I would get a new toon.... I got nothing but bunches of useless shards for useless toons.
$90 gone, it has not improved my game play one bit, or helps me one bit, just a total waste of money.
EA disgust me when I saw that massive random number failure, or the bronze packs that givnothing but equipment.
38 bronze packs and 1 shard, the rest equipment mats........
I want you not to spend money on this game, don't get sucker punched like I did.
EA specialise in tweaking behind the scenes.
Look at the team you need to reach level 6 content.
Look at how you can't just skip a turn during combat, you are forced to fight. Try that against Count Dooku, you have to attack and he is 100% going to counter, so your healer gets slaughtered.
No skip a turn? **** EA?
On and on and on it goes, EA will drag it out, you get frustrated, you feel if you spent some money it will help you...... Yeah right.

This is just gambling, nothing more.

    @Nzchimeran

All I read is blabla buyers remorse blabla. If you have a bad experience take it like a man and don't go on forum telling everybody how your experience suck-ed.
You are complaining about a single player campaign where the AI obviously have better (boss like) characters you have to fight.
Guess you never played Mario and if you did, would you complain that you have to jump on bowsers head 3 times instead of 1 to defeat him? Cause that is how silly you sound now.
If you spend money on a pack of which you knew was gambling with no real value to it, why do it in the first place? Stop showing buyers remorse please, not helping anyone.

It costs absolutely nothing to get kylo to 7* 100%
And it does not take long either, if you know how to farm and play this game people already have him 7* without spending a dime.

If you're level 51 and can't beat level 37 AI you should be doing less ranting and more asking for advice

Sore lips yet from kissing EA? Much you do.
Climb back under rock he does.

Maths doesn't lie, $90 for Jack nothing is a rip.
People complain because they feel ripped, deal with it.
More of your instant Mario macro quotes... Do you just cut and paste all your comments brah?
    Do you even spend?

Honestly, I don't think it would be such a bad thing if the character shard dropped every time you SIM'd.

It would sure round out rosters a little bit so everything wasn't so samey in Arena and GW and would REALLY make everything else 100000% more fun as you could begin to play with different teams and set up.

There are SO many characters in this game (and a lot more coming... not even considering the ships stuff yet) that I really don't see the harm in dropping the shard each SIM. You still have to spend a ton to get thing going. Would really keep me hooked on the game longer. I'm already starting to fade as I've been using the same team for weeks now... Snoorrre.

I just got kylo to 5*, it wasn't too difficult but it did take a few weeks as well as refreshes.

Rey on the other hand, was extremely frustrating to farm, I've only just unlocked her. I didn't get any help from chromiums so I had to do it the hard way. But it was worth it, she hits like a truck.

This game isn't pay-to-win, it's just pay-to get there a little bit faster.

+1. If you're having issues getting through the cantina missions, work on your current PvP team. Don't spread your droids or equipments too thin initially. Lumi from GW and sid from Arena are amazing, free and easy to aquire options for players like yourself.

Thinking the game should be made easier to suit you is ludicrous. The game was created with the developers money, obviously they want a return on their investment so they include in app purchases that provide players a faster way to get the characters they want.

It's win-win for the players that don't mind shelling out some cash and getting what they want, and the developers are able to keep providing us with great, entertaining content.

In a way, you could say the paying players are allowing you to play a great game for free.

    Don't whinge, just grind.

I'd only rate this whiny rant a 4/10. Way too long. You really lose the sense of impotent rage with excessive length. Keep it to a paragraph. Use more all caps. Then threaten to quit the game in protest. Much more effective.

Keep grinding tho. You'll level up that rant in no time and hone your whine to a high pitched squeal that'll make ears bleed even through the Internet.

I think what some people need to clarify is that they needed to refresh multiple times per day in order to farm Kylo quickly. When players say that he was a piece of cake to farm, they need to add the details.

Since the details are lacking, I've seen certain players start to farm Kylo daily with just their initial free credits and no refreshes. Doing it that way, you average about 5 shards a day. Kylo will need over 300 shards to get to 7*. At this pace, it'll take over 2 months and I don't want to spend that much time building a character....

The drop rates are indeed a joke. You can pretty much pencil me for a 33% drop rate on shards in the hard light/dark battles. I've seen 3 out of 6 drop a couple times and lately a few times of 1 out of 6. If I only have 1 hard battle for that character's shards then it's either 1 or 0 shards.

For the Cantina drops, the 33% seems about right or maybe 25% which means what, 11 fights of the 10 energy kind (like for Ren) if your energy is maxed so 2-4 shards out of 80 or needing to do that a billion times.

It's obvious the drop rates are set up to get one to keep dropping crystals at an absurd rate or show some patience and wait it out which then means by the time they get the character, it probably won't matter much.

Well, its obvious the drop rate is set up to get people to buy the data cards and try their luck that way and it is set up to favour the big whales who waste hundreds of dollars on a simplistic mobile app..

The joys of f2p apps...nothing wrong with designing something to urge spending or giving a leg up to those who do pay (clearly if you pay you should get some type of benefit from it) but these types of apps always seem to be ridiculously unbalanced with that.
