Now that Luke’s lightsaber has been destroyed, do y’all think Rey is going to use the books to make her own, new lightsaber?
Well, she can't hope to beat Kylo with her old staff. But she could (and imo should) use it as a starting point when making a new lightsaber and come up with something less traditional. It would make sense to just modify a familiar weapon, although she learns how to fight with anything impossibly fast...
Plus the double-blade lightsaber looks really cool on screen. Though, an inferior weapon to two single blade lightsabers .
We're talking about movies though, cooler looking wins.

Yes, the double blade is one option, but what I had in mind is something more like this. Sure, it's not entirely practical in lightsaber fights as the shaft can be cut easily (unless they make cortosis canon), but as you pointed out yourself, it's movies we are talking about.
This is why I think I like TLJ (what you said about taking risks and expanding what we know about the force).
Coming out of the theater, my friend was saying that this film destroys the established rules of the Star Wars universe and if you don't stick to those rules you end up with more and more over-the-top force abilities and next thing you know one man is draining the life force out of an entire planet. I've realized that I'm okay with my fantasy story about space wizards and laser swords going a little over the top. The prequels took it too far in the opposite direction, quantifying it with a midichlorian count and reducing the force to microscopic organisms.
I still thought plenty of the movie was terrible and needed to be cut but I appreciate that at least it took risks.

Well, I don't think the fans would react badly if Nihilus made it to the big screen...

If there was a villain capable of that, I likely wouldn’t complain. It would raise the stakes.

Let's wait and see what Johnson comes up with in his new trilogy (here). He's definitely not afraid to push the limits. But it's too early to even speculate on that, the only info we have so far is that it is separate from the skywalker saga.
Actually the First Order are the Rebels, as they're rebelling against the New Republic.
Per the text scroll of Episode 8. The First Order had already taken over. How? I dont know since the time line doesn't add up properly. If episode 8 picks up right after episode 7 then the FO should be confused due to the destruction of starkiller base. Ahh this director and writers really screwed this movie up...
My biggest problem with rey’s character in TFA wasn’t that she was “too good” at the force, but that she didn’t have any character flaws that could be exploited to make a convincing allure to the dark side.
So boy was I surprised when TLJ made me believe in the possibility that she could join Kylo. I loved how learning her parentage made her question her loyalty to the resistance and got rid of any moral obligations. She is her own person and isn’t living in the shadow of someone’s legacy. Kylo exploited this aspect of her character and made the draw to the dark side much stronger.
TLJ even turned her strength into a great plot and character element so that Luke feared her power and saw the potential for darkness in her.
I loved everything having to do with kylo and rey so much more than I was expecting. Here’s to hoping abrams doesn’t screw it up in episode 9.
Exactly. Like Luke said, she just jumped right into the Dark Side, without hesitating. She willingly went to the Dark Side to try to find out who her parents were. Then right back when it didn't happen.
#CloneHelmets4Life...VICTORY!!!! "I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere." The more you tighten your grip, CG/EA, the more whales will slip through your fingers (and go F2P or quit).
What others have said- the Rebel Alliance and the Resistance are two separate entities, despite what words they may use. While this sequel era is a continuation of the Galactic Civil War, the same organizations aren't fighting. By your logic, the CIS should join your 'Rebel' tag and the Republic, Empire and FO should become one faction.
Also, FO are the rebels. The New Republic was in power to they were blown to bits, but that doesn't make the FO gov in power. The closest thing to your point is that they are warring factions in a ruler-less galaxy

See what you say makes sense but the movie and text scroll, (aka lore) disagree. The FO is in complete power of the Galaxy, as shown in Battlefront 2s story and the text scroll of Episode 8. Now how they are in control, i dont know. Not sure how writing that lazy got through.
But yes if they fit the tag then they should get the tag. It sucks that so many will be in the same category, but if we have categories we might as well use them right.
Kinda makes ya wonder when two of the strongest characters holding lightsabers in this game now are Luke before he was a Jedi, and Rey before she becomes a Jedi(if she does). I realize to an extent some things in this game will not make sense looking at it through the lens of Star Wars lore so we can have more viable factions than Jedi/Sith, but man do we have some characters/factions that really, really, really need reworks/buffs lol.
The best parts of the movie:
1. Snoke's death. I hated the concept of Snoke and the illogical guessing game of his origins. Watching the character get cut in half and drop to the floor like a ragdoll was incredibly satisfying and shocking. The following fight scene was also great.
2. Yoda's scene, it was great seeing my fourth favorite Star Wars character again.
3. The Princess Leia hologram scene, great use of nostalgia while still serving the plot
4. Admiral Holdo, a great new character; the conflict with Poe was great and tense
5. Phasma's "Death": I hope Phasma is dead; she is my least favorite Star Wars character and I almost cheered when she fell into the flames
6. The twin suns callback. A fitting and beautiful way to end the iconic hero.
The worst parts of the movie:
2. Terrible Rose: Why willingly sacrifice the resistance to save one man? When she passed out, I thought she was dead and I was disappointed when she survied.
3. The fake CGI and the Casino Scene
4. The codebreaker storyline and character.
5. The annoying and persistant use of humour, especially the Porgs and Luke throwing the lightsaber.
Overall, I loved the movie and would rank it #3 on my list, after ROTS and ESB.
I was wandering after watching the movie if Kylo should be renamed. I mean it's a small spoiler but since it was in the trailer imma say it. Kylo's mask is destroyed and fro what I understand he won't be using it again.
Therefore I was wondering if it would be more accurate for Unmasked Kylo to be renamed to just Kylo Ren since he i gonna be unmasked from now on and since half of Force awakens and what is now Kylo Ren should be renamed to "masked Kylo Ren".
There's a movie thread, just keep it there please. I just watched the movie tonight, and had not watched any of the trailers to keep it as pure as possible. I'm sure there are others
Yes. It's a terrible name. The parentheses suggest merely a wardrobe choice. It's actually a huge milestone, and there are several ways to go with the name to mark that change. I won't say anything else to avoid spoilers. But I will say that seeing the movie made me go from wanting absolutely nothing to do with him, to wanting to start building him up immediately.

I liked the movie except the Leia scene and Phasma's death.
Snoke was just a stepping stone. The king is dead, long live the king. I'm fine with that.
I felt like they could have turned Phasma's revenge on Finn into a compelling story arc, but... missed opportunity
I loved the Kylo/Rey relationship and her parents are exactly who I thought they were.
I thoroughly enjoyed Poe's arc and Finn and Roses story was required to make it work. I know everyone else thought that part was boring. I liked it.
Yoda was perfect! Luke was exactly what everyone expected.
Hux was marginalized and turned into a joke. I hope he gets a revenge arc where he tries to stab Kylo in the back and lead the FO himself. Otherwise, waste of a character.
I'm not sure how I felt about the death of Luke. Was he supposed to be Snoke's opposite and died because Snoke did? If so, where does that leave Rey and Kylo? Did he die because he used too much power? IDK, it was just weird or I just didn't understand it.

Hahahahahahahahaha wait what?
I expected (and hoped) for him to be twisted up with guilt, regret, and fear. Thats what makes sense for his character and that’s what we got. I was happy with it.
The scene where he ordered pizza for the whole Resistance was just so memorable. Seeing that big Dominos Delivers sign on the side of the AT-MC was genius! Knocking on the side of the Calamari Crusiers air lock and yelling pizza delivery to gain access, I mean that trick has not been seen since the Stooges. What an amazing angle for Kylo Dynamite.
@Rmaxtpmx , @cadwane never thought Kylo is cool or awesome or anything like that. I saw all the starwars movies including EP 1~8 & Rogue One, and he is nowhere near Vader. The voice, the look, the vibe, the moves, the gait, the behind story, the emotions, all fall behind Vader by a millions of light years.
To me it seems like the unmasking, although it has some meanings, made him look only weaker, and less intimidating. Now he just looks like Matt the radar technician

He's not supposed to be Vader. He's a new villain with his own turmoils. You sound like the jedi council when they don't grant Anakin the rank of master lmao
Wow how does a thread like this with a few spoilers in it, stay up on these forums for this long?? Cmon @moderators. Do your job and get these spoilers off.

And I hope that will be a double bladed lightsabre. She had a staff, so...
