Veteran Scoundrel Event Crashing Regularly

Of all the times I've played today I've only cleared 2 Han tiers and maybe 2 or 3 of Chewie's. It's not that I can't beat it, it's pretty easy and I certainly can auto the early tiers, it's just that it keeps crashing. I've tried way more than 10 times each but it almost always crashes. Sometimes it crashes before it starts, others during an encounter, but usually it's between phases.
Is this common or rare? Is there a plan to bring it back? It's kind of a bummer to have one day to get such iconic characters, have both challenges on the same day, and then not have it even work.

Seems to be the good old crash issue for me.

Might the event come back since it was glitchy? Or might we be gifted those shards if we have a certain number of scoundrels at a certain gear level?
