I've been keeping a spreadsheet of characters with their release dates for the past few years and I just noticed that we are approaching the 200th character within the game. Ships excluded, Mon Mothma will be the 191st character.

I don't have any predictions or conspiracy theories, I just thought it would be cool to share.

    Thats a great list and much appreciated of you to keep up on the details. it will be interesting to see who makes it in the game and who that particular one will be. Other than the game opening toons, are these all in chronological order too?

    These are in chronological order of release. Some of the older ones required a lot of research to place them since patch notes were sparse in the beginning.

    It's weird to remember that characters used to just be dropped into chromium packs with no announcement.

    This was actually a terrible way to release a character. You didn't even get to activate the character, and then it would be months before you could farm it (looking at you, Cad Bane).

    By completing all daily activities...5 shards a day.
    In the Bronziums...only way to get them.
    In one of the ignored stores (not the GET or GET2 or Shard shop store)
    or some new cool way....even another galactic chase (cantina please)

    I dont mind the RNG, just wish they would move away from preloaded TM and tenacity jacked up to 1000000%. Bottom line is we need more release methods.

    It would be cool if the 200th were a ftp friendly legendary or journey. Obviously they can't do it with every new release but once every hundred wouldn't hurt the bottom line too much.

    Back to the topic at hand, if they keep their current pace for this year, it'll be about the end of the year. They could go loopy and bring in a character from the Star Wars Holiday Special, because reasons. Maybe Chewie's family and the wookie tag that we have the conspiracy theories about. I'm not saying this is what I want or don't want but it'd be different and honestly not that surprising for CG to pull in something random like this instead of characters we've been asking for.

    The list is based on when their kit was revealed. There's no record of when the characters were actually obtainable in the game, so I figured this is the best tracking option. These are the dates I have for the Kit Reveals of the character you mentioned.

    I did have Chewbacca and Jedi Knight Revan wrong though, so thanks for catching that!

    Here is the order with the Kit Reveal Dates per @AM2Rainman's request.

    I choose to use the Kit Reveal order since it's easier to track than when they were actually released in the game.

    It's cool to see the different "seasons" that have occurred over the years. I remember thinking I was so cool when I saved up enough crystals to buy a pack and I got a 4* Darth Maul. I had him in my arena squad just because he was so rare and I wanted to show off. He didn't even have any synergy with my Luminara lead!

    Overloading would mean that there would be more marquee characters and I guarantee at least one of them will be able to beat the meta team meaning that people would start complaining about how easy to get (or f2p) characters are beating the top meta team.

    Exactly. It is a fine balance to make, since more new characters means we need to farm more new things to be ready for new events. the average player cannot keep up with the pace of 2018.

    because who doesn't love graphs. This shows the number of characters released during a quarter based on the dates provided by @shadowmasterlink. The average character per quarter is 6.75 which includes the 12 characters initially released the last month of Dec. '15. The average for '17 and '18 was about 8.4 while since it's been about 3.5 (not including this quarter as we're about 1/4 into it). Most interesting things about this is that we actually have one more character than we did this time last year and that in Q3 we had no new characters. So we have 2 so far this quarter and keeping an average of 3.5 we'll be at 200 early next year. I'm changing my conspiracy theory to be a new GL as #200. I'm going to say Dex with an ultimate ability Food Poisoning and he assists GK every time he attacks a BH with clones.

    Maybe a special of "cloners good ones" that unlocks a mode where you can copy your characters and have a team of 5 gks.

    I think I'm in the minority that liked when there was a flood of characters every month. My main focus is collecting all of them and looking at their in-game models. If only we could see character animations in the menu screen!

    Tin foil hat time, what if the 200th character is from Legends? It would be cool to see Mara Jade or Dash Rendar. If they ever do a Legends character (aside from KOTOR) I think it would have to be a VERY recognizable character. Or they could go completely wild and put Jaxxon in the game. He is Canon now after appearing in the Adventures comics.

    I’m definitely feeling character fatigue for the rest of 2020 but at the same time I really want them to hit the 200th character milestone and hopefully it’s a very notable toon

    The real issue with the influx of characters was that we all knew they would be needed for something, but there was no real guiding picture as to who.....so every move you made was a gamble and you just needed to make sure you have them all at 7*.

    actually collecting and farming them wasn't too bad, i'm more of a collector too, but you always need to have that background of flexibility for when the next show stopper will drop.
