What are some of the best teams for gw for a f2p player?
Also, what are some really solid characters that are useful in GW?
    Thanks

I've personally beaten Galactic War 28 times in a row using the same team, and rarely ever have a character die. Like you I assume, I am also F2P and I use Sid (L), Luminara, JC, GS, and Resistance Pilot (who of course can be switched out for any other character, I just have a thing for him if you know what I mean)

What stars are they and what level are you?

    I use phasma 6*, lumi 7*, sid 7*, ig86 7* and either dooku 4*, poe 5*,poggle 5*, jc 5*, or barisee 5*.

How do you like resistance pilot compared to gs and ig86 if you have him?

The team goes as follows: 7*G8 Sid (L), 6*G8 GS, 4*G7 RP, 5*G8 JC, and 7*G7 Lumi, and I'm currently sitting at level 64.
Your team, from my perspective seems complete viable to complete GW regularly.
As for the resistance pilot, if we compare him to GS first, at their current star levels and gear levels, RP hits as much as GS does when he has the buff (crit or non-crit) and I take it that will only increase as I get RP to 7 stars. Something that makes him really good is his foresight ability, and the expose chance when using it. It is excellent for pesky Dooku's because he attacks, gains foresight, and dodges the counter. At my level, RP does 6k crit, and about 3.5k non-crit -- but be warned, his gear is not to be trifled with, holy s**t did that ever take a long time to get. Thankfully I have one more piece to 8 star, which is coming as I hit level 65.

Well the thing is, im level 70. It is tough now. I used to be able to complete it easily but now it is hard af.
Today, my 7th battle is phasma 7* jc 5*, daka 6*, sid 7* and lumi 7*. All level 69. That is about the same as my team with sid phasma and lumi. I need a deeper team with this level of difficulty battle after battle.
My first battle averaged like a 5.5* character

As much as I want to see that from your point of view, I've been told upon breaching every 10 levels, I will find GW significantly harder, but my GW streak continued from level 49 to now. Perhaps it is because I don't have a competitive server. Also, we saw recently that it was assumed that the GW difficulty had to do with your highest pvp rank, but I've placed 1st once in my time in this game, and my GW difficulty did not increase one bit. Just something to speculate about.

That every 10 level thing is not true, probably just one persons experience. I have only had 1st in arena and that was yesterday. Also your server has nothing to do with who you battle in GW cause you battle people from other servers.
When you reach lvl 70, you will likely hit the same wall i have. I completed 43 GW and it used to be fairly easy, now it gets tough on around the 7th or 8th battle

That remains to be seen, but I am always concerned when I see people saying that they face level 70's at level 60. Believe me or not, I have never fought an enemy that was even 5 levels under me, always lower.

You have some strange luck then. Just enjoy your easy run while it lasts

Finally lost my streak today. Ran into a 7*, lvl 70, well synergized squad on battle 9 and had to burn both Poe and Lumi to even have a chance of moving on. Then battle 10 I had to lose both my Geonosians. After that I was pretty much done for. Managed to scrape together a win on battle 11 somehow with what little remained, but by then all I had left was Sid and a bunch of low level toons. Oh well. At least I got 2 shipments.

This was my first GW with the speed change, and based off my experience, I feel like it'll be harder to mess with the RNG now that everyone's turn order is essentially set. It worries me a bit for the future, but at leastI'll be hitting 70 soon and that'll help me catch up secondary toons. Anyone else have thoughts on the 'new' GW with speed changes?

I still have trouble believing it was luck, as it would not last for 4 weeks in a row.

Well no one except you faces teams of more than 5 levels below their own. Just wait till you get to a higher level, it gets insane. You must have a different matching system because everyone else has much difficulty in completing gw at least at max lvl

One of the developers has stated it's based upon your 5 strongest power characters and your highest arena rank. Both of my accounts have hit rank 1 on their arena ladders and 28k power on my main and 22k power on my 2nd account.

From what I can tell, the range of opponents they select from is very wide. Like close to 5k power differentials.

Also, the game only uses power as a measurement, not synergy or levels. So I will notice that I will play against a level 70 player with blue gear characters on my level 63 account, and the next round I will play against a lvl 65-66 player with purple gear.

John Salera did say they would be making some additional matchmaking improvements to prevent the really big level differences when playing. Personally, the biggest jump I've ever seen was on my 2nd account when I was lvl 61 a few days ago I played a lvl 70 purple gear team. Took me two suicide squads and nearly an hour of restarts to get past it.

What do you mean by suicide squads?

send some low level tanky characters into a battle so you can draw out the strong AOE abilities from the opponent. Usually so you can get rid of Sid AOE, Kylo AOE, Vader AOE, etc...

It's also useful to put Lumi/Eeth/JC jedi force blasts on cooldown or any buffs/taunts like poggle/poe/etc

When the suicide squad is dead you send in your main squad to clean up.

Does this still work though? I thought they got rid of it with the update and the abilities reset everytime

The only way the Cooldowns and damage are saved is if the battle ends by everyone on your team dying or everyone on the other team dying.

Day 2 Update: highest lvl seen in all GW was a 66. Last fight was 65, 61, 61, 61, 61. Again an entire GW was on auto and I didn't lose a guy.
  • Options
It might be a fluke in the algorithm. I had that happen to me several times a few weeks ago. But since then, it's been straight 70s
  • Options
I haven't had a single GW that I could've run through on auto. A lot of difficult fights. Some people are getting hammered. Some people aren't.
  • Options
I'm getting teams 62 full purple 1* above and my best toon is 53 Lumi in purple 7 gear lol.

Yeah, you used to be able to retreat which doesn't work anymore. You have to let your whole squad die. Hence suicide squads. You don't even need to send in 5 characters a lot of times. Usually 3 characters is enough to draw out Sid AOE and a couple burst abilities

Well, today I think I might not finish, 1 note level 67, 2nd 69, 3rd 70, and so far all the way to node 9 all opponant toons maxed, no breaks to recover

I'm currently only level 57 but what I have experienced (when I'm lucky enough to get there) is that the last two nodes generally calm down. It maybe just coincidence but everytime I have finished this has been the case. I usually run into 3 monster teams. One at about node 5 ( right before halfway), one around node 7-8, and almost always at node 10.

Then after I come out of 10 battered and bruised with a ragtag bunch of toons left it generally gives me winnable battles in the last two. More times than not I can't get through all 3 of those really tough ones. I ran into a team with 6,500 power more than my main squad in the 10th node today after already having to use suicide squads in two others. Tried everything but I won't give it the satisfaction of finishing me off. Just gonna wait and reset tomorrow ha ha!!
