It's funny how CG took a long time to add GCs to the game for them to not be worth the time spent and yet they could make a bunch of people happy by simply copying and pasting the code from squad templates into ships to make squadron templates but they don't. This should be the 8th wonder of the world.

Cost too much, nothing is free.
But what does it actually cost.
Moving their fingers 🤣🤣 or typing...
Or just covid... Cannot get work done...

No wonder they don't communicate on the forums, it requires moving their fingers. No wonder they don't do much work on the game because it requires moving their fingers.
Now that there are two fleets set on D in GAC we need a fleet builder. I totally appreciate the addition of more ships, but I want less post it notes around my desk with ship names on them.
When was the last QOL update anyways? Can't money on QOL updates so will we ever see them again?
Back in May 2020, I noticed that we skipped our yearly QOL update. At the time, I had thought that the pandemic was the cause of the delay, but we are now getting close to October with still not even a whisper of when the next major QOL is coming.

They did say they were skipping QOL so they could work on the ocean of new content.
Did they? I must have missed that. Do you have a source?
No. It was in a Q&A or Road Ahead sometime around January. And obviously not phrased the way I phrased it. They said that even though the QOL update comes at that time, they were not doing one in order to work on the engine update.

I believe this is what I was thinking of, from the December Q&A:
Q: When are we getting more quality of life updates? There's a bunch of requests from Guild officers that we really need!
A: CG_Erik - Historically, we've released a QoL update early in the calendar year. Typically, schedules get a little squirrely at the end of year, so we pick up as many QoL items as possible. We're starting the discussion around what we'll include in the next release, which will certainly include a number of QoL items, and we'll share those as we get closer. Something that we're going to try out this next release is picking a couple of QoL themes and going deeper, rather than QoL items from across the whole game. Additionally, rather than saving QoL generally for once a year, we're looking at both setting aside some capacity in the schedule to accommodate QoL items in other release and potentially making more frequent releases that pick up a smaller number of QoL items between our main releases.
That is by far the larger problem. We have too few ships for the number of capital ships. 8 capital ships to 43 regular ships. That is 13 ship shortfall in general. Now GAC is doubling the amount of ships required. If you don't defeat someone on the first attempt, you are pretty screwed. The other problem is the factions. Only three Resistance ships. Only four First Order ships. Only six empire ships to split between two capital ships. Only 8 Republic ships to split between two capital ships. Only Galactic Republic and Rebels have enough ships to have a full team. 8 ships without a capital ship, granted a lot of them fit well on non affiliated teams. So, back to the GAC problem, you are going to use 2 capital ships with 14 regular ships on defense. That leaves 29 regular ships on offense, or four full teams, with two of those teams being absolute garbage most likely. I imagine typically people would use Negotiator, Home One, Chimaera and Malevolence. If you stumble on offense, I doubt the scraps are going to be able to take out a bad attack on a Negotiator or Malevolence squad.

That's the biggest set back with ships now. If you don't one shot on offense you're pretty much done for.

I'd say the biggest drawback of ships these days is that it gates a single player game mode (GAC) behind a guild game mode (TB) since the GET2 capital ships are by far the dominant force.

You don't have to fill all the RI slots on defense. In fact, I don't see why you necessarily would. How often does a battle get dragged on long enough for your 4th RI to get called?
To be clear, I agree with the general point that we don't have enough ships for the number of capital ships or to cover a potential loss on offense. But there are ways to stretch them a little.
Relax... We have 87 leaders in game so by this logic we should have 4 more characters for each leader. So we need 348 additional characters on top of the 87 leaders so 435 total characters and we only have 192 + the 2 GLs coming for a total of 194.not to mention they will also be leaders. So we are missing around 240 characters. Yeah... No, it doesn't work like that...If you want to use empire pick your capital ship. If you want GR pick your capital ship.
On the other hand I agree, we should have have a few more ships in some factions to be able to make a full team of 7+1.But again, we only have 3 tuskens...
I really hope to see this and many more QOL Updates like HAAT Sim in the next big Update. For Fleet Arena, for Geo TB and for GAC Def we need Fleet Management.

Also CG: you most definitely cannot!
I honestly have no clue when the last QOL update was.

Let's put it this way. Carrie was still in charge when the last QoL update dropped.

I cannot find any mention of a cancelled or postponed 2020 QOL update.
Ok.
