Can't believe the first page of posts on this are mostly negative because of the SSC issue. They are working on it

You mean like how they're working on the missing buttons bug?

This seems like a great change. This will really help newer players (and even not-so-new players) farm up shards for different teams. For example, imagine how easy the JKR farm will be now. . . basically double drops all the time for those hard nodes.

every toon released on or after December 2019
  • With bronzium excluded this is an absolutely terrible change for established players. Bronzium is the vast majority of my shard shop currency, so you're effectively cutting my g12 farming from the store in half.
  • Bronzium is a technical issue, currently. So hold off until they say one way or another whether they’re going to fix it or not.

This is a fantastic way for new players to double their farming times. And for me to finish that Krennic...

No, don't "hold off." Fire up those auto clickers now before they nerf your ally token conversion rates.

So the old adage is still true 2x0=0. You could put 100 shards on a node but as long as the drop rates are still lousy nothing changes. And doubling the cost of gear in the shard shop just adds to the gear crunch!!! How does ANY of this help new or old players??? What would help is to put something in these stores worth buying!! CG hasn’t changed out any toons in the cantina store for 3+ years!!!! I don’t know if it’s just laziness or you just don’t outright care but you’ve made 1 billion dollars off of us could you just throw us a bone and maybe offer a character once a month say 50 shards for $4.99. This happens all the time in your competition’s game stores and players love it because they actually offer toons that are needed or useful. Not trash like CUP,Lobot, and K2so. They even go as far as to offer 10for10 on toon shards. 10 shards for 10 crystals would be unheard of in SWGOH!!! Maybe you should ask the player community once in awhile what it is that would improve the game and make it such a chore to play.

I stopped reading at the predictable 2x0=0 complaint but this is fantastic news for new players and the rest of us can deal with the (hopefully temporary) bronzium nerf.

    It's not all about us.
    I need a new message here. https://discord.gg/AmStGTH
  • I would not be surprised at all if they find out that they cant fix these technical difficulties and this nerf becomes permanent.

    That's simply not true.
In fact, items will be more expensive, as everything will cost double but most of of currency will come from older toons whose change will be same.
When we recieve a 50x shards of an old toon it will be 750 currency either way, but now items will be 2x expensive.

If this was not what you were looking for, check it out. If not, tell us you're making things more expensive but don't lie to us.
    Simple maths.

please go back and read it again.

it works out to equal, for any shards, the only down side is bronzium at this point.

Bronzium and quests and achievements. Where most older players obtain most of this currency. Unless you double that, you're making it more expensive.

Nobody is relying on quests and achievements to finish off toons or gaining extra ssc, let’s be real

No, maybe you should read it again. Bronzium *and any new character's in their first year of release* will be half value. So any extra farming or awards on those characters will always be half value as well. Not just bronzium, and even if/when bronzium is fixed, first year characters are *always* half value. So it's a never net neutral on the shard shop - it's always less value after this change. Although not largely less if the bronzium issue is fixed, it's still always less over all.
EDIT: OK, Original rate does get doubled in the shop, but that still leaves Quests and Achievements, which is minor. And the question is how long on Bronziums going to be broken - a month? 6? Two years? It's still a nerf.

Accelerated-Farm Characters keep their conversion the same (1 Shard > 15 SSC).
Original Rate characters have their conversion doubled (1 Shard > 30 SSC).

Agreed, another missed opportunity by Capital Greed. Keep the currency costs the same in the store instead of doubling it to compensate would have really helped the gear crunch...which I am guessing is worse for newer players than farming for shards. This tells me one thing that CG knows that people spend more on gear than shards...which they have data telling them that players are more apt to gear once they hit 7 stars than at 5 or 6 stars.
  • Maybe you should ask the player community once in awhile what it is that would improve the game and make it such a chore to play.
If they relied on how the community would improve the game, we wouldn't have a game at this point.
  • I'm just going to hold onto all my bronzium tokens until they fix it. My gear acquisition is going to slow for a time but hopefully they don't take too long to make the adjustment.
  • Also would appear to reduce the shard shop value of raid shards (Han, GK, Traya) by half.
  • Its a massive cut due to the Bronzium cards for older player. So Advantage for newer players, Disadvantage for older players. Also newer players who got the toons done might need more gear. Well played.

Is it really so hard to go into the source code and just double the amount of shards that drop ? Cant believe a Trainee gonna need more than 2 hours to fix it.

Not just bronziums but also raid character shards which make up a good chunk of shard shop currency
  • I wish people would stop talking about how this is a garbage update because it doesn't help end game players. While it may not help end game players very much, it is extremely helpful for newer players. When is the last time CG did something that was helpful to newer players? All of these GL's and other new characters are way out of the grasp of the typical newer player. End Game players have been able to unlock new characters and use with them while new players are stuck behind the massive amount of time it takes to farm a single hard node character to 7*. Not everything CG does needs to be for endgame players, so get over it.

Which have their shard shop value doubled.
  • I missed that raid character shards, while not being doubled, will have their shard store currency value doubled. So that part seems to be covered. Hopefully they can address the bronzium issue quickly.
  • Stun gun gear crunch stays the same. Don’t need sharts need gear
  • I wish people would stop talking about how this is a garbage update because it doesn't help end game players.

It's not a garbage update. It's a great update for all newer players.

    The Hyperdrive Bundle.

Seeing those changes, I expect the gear economy changes to be something like this:
"We are doubling the drops of all pieces needed for gear levels 1 - 5. To compensate for the extra income, the amount of gear needed for the first three relic mats will double too."
  • When is the last time CG did something that was helpful to newer players?

    The Hyperdrive Bundle.[/quote]

If you want to pay $100...

  • Rather see the actual drop rate of shards get improved. So many times have gone days without a single shard. 2X0 is still 0
